We invite all non-EU students from Rietveld and Sandberg to join our monthly meetings. Here we will confront bureaucratic processes together, creating a safe space to ask questions and get things done.
We will share some drinks and food after the conversation.
Our first gathering will focus on the visa process after graduating. So bring all the questions you have, because we will have an expert as a guest to help us out.
When?
9th May 5.30 pm
Where?
Auditorium 3rd floor BC building
Schedule
We will start with an introduction, then lawyer Laurence Meijer will join us to give a presentation on various visa types (zoekjaar, artist, partnership, employment, postgraduate) with plenty of time for a Q&A. Afterwards we will share a dinner by Student Circle (cooked by Lila) and drinks by Leftist Bar with alumni that will share their experience in the visa application process.
Together in bureaucracy: a space to actively build a support system for non-EU students

“Navigating the cracks between worlds is difficult and painful, like reconstructing a new life, a new identity. Forced to negotiate the cracks between realities, we learn to navigate the switchback roads between assimilation/acquiescence to the dominant culture and isolation/preservation of our ethnic cultural integrity. But both are necessary for survival and growth […]to construct alternative roads, create new topographies and geographies […]look at the world with new eyes, use competing systems of knowledge, and rewrite identities. Navigating the cracks is the process of reconstructing life anew.” Gloria Anzaldúa, Geographies of Selves.
